tl;dr A demigod working two jobs who's recently quit the latter and doesn't know that he's the former. He's kinda burned out, and now fate's tossed him to the wolves here in Rubilykskoye! Nice!

ABILITIES

EMPATHY tl;dr Kaito feels your emotions and he can't turn it off. Also ouch

Kaito is able to absorb and feel the emotions of others around him as if they are his own. This doesn't stop at people, either. Flora and fauna are also subject to having their emotions perceived by him. The degree to which he can interpret others' emotions is so precise it used to be impossible for him to discern his own feelings from the ones that he absorbed. Unfortunately, he cannot turn his empathy off, and the overwhelming flow of emotions coming in from all around him plague him with constant migraines.

This power is amplified by direct physical contact, so Kaito tries to keep multiple layers on at all times, regardless of the season, to mitigate the feedback from his empathy.

PSYCHOMETRY tl;dr Kaito touches things and gets a free flashback scene as a result

By touching someone or something directly with his hands, Kaito can peer into its past. According to him, there's no limit to how far back he can peer at a memory, but the older the memory, the less coherent its playback becomes. Depending on the point of view within the memory (example: reading a player character's memory), Kaito will be forced to experience everything from physical sensations to thoughts and feelings.

AURA MANIPULATION/INFUSION tl;dr Aura = mana, and Kaito can use it to create constructs or surge it through his body to supercharge his physical attributes

By tapping into aura, one of the latent energies that makes up the world and its inhabitants, Kaito is able to create raw energy constructs like walls or blades. He can also charge his body with aura in order to drastically improve his physical traits well beyond the limits of a powerless Earthling (which he most certainly is not).

HYDROKINESIS tl;dr Waterbender who can also shift his body freely into a liquid state

Initially thought to be an offshoot of his aura manipulation powers, Kaito has since learned that this is more akin to as strong magical aptitude towards the element. Kaito can freely manipulate bodies of water or spawn the liquid himself to a degree that he can shift the element between its three natural states and modify its temperature.

He's also able to transform part of or his entire body into water, and often combines that with aura infusion to perform flashy physical attacks like giant watery punches or, idk, transform into a slime man (what???).

DIVINE LINEAGE tl;dr That's an ocean demigod bro

As a half-kami, Kaito is afforded several blessings pertaining to his domain, the ocean. He can breathe underwater, has superhuman physical qualities, and ages far slower than normal humans. Because he's not yet aware of his lineage, he also isn't fully aware of the context behind these abilities.

INDOMITABLE WILL tl;dr Incredible mental resilience built over the (relived) experience of over one million deaths

The ability to withstand hardships and despair to unfathomable extents and continue on unabated. Kaito heavily resists (and may completely negate) manipulation, temptation, or suggestion from other players, whether it is born of chemicals or supernatural abilities.

ABILITY OPT-IN

THE FORM (BECAUSE WE ALL LOVE FORMS) The nature of Kaito's empathy (and his inability to shut it off) makes him quite invasive of others' emotional states by default, and it does play into his day-to-day internal thoughts. I'm not here to force that onto your characters, so if you'd rather not be subject to Kaito passively gleaning your muse's emotions, please feel free to let me know in the form below!

MONSTER

THE FACELESS

Kaito's monster form has no distinguisably monstrous features until he's crossed the point of no return. It's a shapeshifter. A mimic. A mirror. Over time, as his willpower wilts, his body will begin to lose its defining features. While speaking to others, he'll subconsciously borrow both physical and psychological traits.

It starts with small things like verbal tics. Maybe he copies their posture. Perhaps his naturally gold eyes will take on the same color as his conversation partner's. That messy mop of black hair might become long, straight, and bright red. Someone might start to hear their own voice coming from his lips. As the transformation progresses, he may even adopt their entire physical build. Maybe their hopes and dreams will become his own. But it is in the final stage where he stops copying the traits of others and starts to steal them.

Completely lost to the overflow of everyone's emotions, Kaito's identity is erased, replaced by an anomalous horror that craves company. His chest splits open from his clavicles down to his hips, flapping open like double doors. Jagged teeth grow on the edges where his skin tore itself apart. Blood and organs churn and spill out, the latter dangling precariously.

Another hole erupts from his back. Inside, filling the now-empty space of his chest cavity, countless tentacles writhe and squirm. Many of them shoot out of his back, elongating to several meters in length. They're a bright blue, not unlike the glowing hue his eyes take when he uses his hydrokinesis. Towards the tips they take on a luminous gold hue, and the tips range in shape from blunt nubs to phallic heads to sharp, toothy mouths. The tendrils are strong enough to crush steel and serve as Kaito's main method of movement as he ambles along and his body dangles like a fisher's lure.

Beyond all that, perhaps the most terrifying aspect of his fully transformed state is that the rest of his body is constantly shifting from one guise to another, flesh morphing rapidly between the body shapes he remembers—but never returning to his own.

ABILITIES

SHAPESHIFTING | A middle to late stage power that allows Kaito to copy physical and personality traits of another person. In his fully transformed state, he can steal the traits of those he kills. Until the late stages of his transformation, Kaito's shapeshifting powers are completely subconscious—he has no control over them and often does not realize what's happening until it's pointed out.

PHEROMONES | An early stage power. Kaito releases a scentless, colorless pheromone from his skin. In the early stages of his transformation it sticks close to him and can mess with a person's fine motor controls, inhibitions, and decision making power. In later stages it has a much wider range and acts as both a potent aphrodisiac and a fully-body paralytic poison.

TELEPATHY | An early stage power separate from the telepathic link that all void-touched possess. This telepathy allows Kaito to hold conversations within another person's mind—often subconsciously using their own voice or the voice of someone they care for.

EMPATHY | In his fully transformed state, Kaito will lose access to all his other powers save for his empathy, which twists and distorts itself to become something sadistic. By making physical contact with his target, he can force them to experience the same emotional overflow that he does, but at a much greater magnitude. This can induce internal bleeding in the brain for those without the proper will or mental resistance to withstand such an attack. Considering the fact that Kaito's regular empathy forces him to endure migraines almost constantly during his waking hours, ouch.

In his monster form, Kaito longs for the company of others. Yet, perhaps out of a lingering shred of self-awareness that he will be unable to protect anyone from his transformed self, he contradicts that desire by secluding himself deep within the woods, or even the void. Like a deep sea anglerfish, he lures his victims in by placing his body in an open clearing, tendrils and claws and fangs veiled behind the appearance of someone important to them. Due to the strength of his pheromones, those who come in range of seeing him will already be well within the range of its paralyzing, hallucinogenic properties.

Those who fall for the ruse will be pounced upon and violated mercilessly. The pheromones' hallucinations combined with his shapeshifting qualities can easily lead to the victims being fooled into thinking the person they mistook Kaito for is the one assaulting and/or murdering them.

Once he's finished, Kaito will feast on the lifeless husk and quite literally steal their physical features, leaving behind a naked flesh doll with no distinguishing physical properties. The human 'mannequin' is either discarded or used to lure in his next target.
